I was born in Hammond LA. My first home was my Aunt Vera Bardwell's house in Ponchatoula, so some wouldn’t be alone in our Amite home (dad was in Vietnam). Dad's military career took us to Germany for my infancy. Then back to Grandpa's home in Hammond, until the Army sent us to GA, and then on to Fulda, Germany for my Kindergarten year. Then back to our family home in Amite, for my first grade experience (dad was in Vietnam again). My 2nd through 4th grade years were spent in Wildflicken, Germany. Then back to our family home in Amite. Seems everywhere we went we always came home to Tangipahoa Parish.
I joined the Marine Corps shortly before graduating Amite High, then went to Southeastern shortly after my transfer to the Louisiana Air National Guard. The Active duty Air Force took me to many of our far away states including Alaska and Hawaii. I lived in far-far away places like Korea, Panama, Saudi Arabia, among many others - always returning home to Tangipahoa Parish between each great adventure. Having the fortune to live in so many places around this world as I served my country, it is a well informed choice that I choose to call Tangipahoa Parish my real home.
